PCHRD Anniversary: Putting People at the Center of Health Research
Geared toward the empowerment of the country’s health research community, the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (PCHRD-DOST) will mark its 31st anniversary with the theme “People at the Center of Health Research” to be held on 18 March 2013 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, Manila.
Through the years, PCHRD has advocated for a strong health research culture by continually creating an enabling environment, promote participation of people, organizations and communities for better health and health research to generate more knowledge, technology and innovations and their uses in Philippine health care.
As evidence, PCHRD has successfully united the country’s major stakeholders of health and health research through the creation of the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS), and eventually the creation of the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA) that serves as guideline for health research priorities.
This year’s event, PCHRD renews its commitment to further strengthen the country’s health and health research community by putting people as priority – not only as subject for health research but for capacity building and empowerment.
During the celebration, there will be panel discussions featuring people’s health and the health systems in action. The morning sessions will tackle the broader issues of sharpening the research community’s listening skills in order to come up with research actions addressing peoples’ health needs while the afternoon session will tackle strategies to improve research utilization by increasing research publication productivity and international visibility.
The event will be attended by researchers, health practitioners, industry representatives, health and health research advocates from all over the country.
