    BFAR Offers College Scholarship for Top Ten High School Graduates

    thTo sustain its support to talented and deserving students to pursue higher education, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is once again inviting all qualified applicants to the 21st Nationwide Competitive Examination for the Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) – Industry Leaders on April 6, 2013 (Saturday). In Bicol Region, the testing center is in Albay Central School, Legaspi City.

    The scholarship grant is for a four-year Bachelor of Science in Fisheries course starting on the 1st Semester of S/Y 2013-14. A scholar under this program is entitled to a full scholarship grant; free matriculation and other school fees; monthly stipend of P2,500; semestral book allowance of P2,000; research/thesis support of P5,000 and; a graduation support of P500. Three slots shall be given to Bicol Region.

    Interested applicants must be a 4th year high school student of the current year; not more than 20 years old; and should belong to the TOP TEN of his/her graduating class (NOT UPPER 10%) duly certified by the school head/principal. Any high school graduate, not more than 20 years old at the time of the examination who has not earned any units in college and who belong to the TOP TEN of his/her graduating class, duly certified by the school head/principal; of good moral character as certified by the school head, and no civil/criminal/administrative liabilities.

    The applicant must also secure the following documentary requirements: authenticated copy of Diploma; authenticated copy of Transcript of Record (Form 137); authenticated copy of Report Card (Form 138); authenticated copy of Birth Certificate; certification from the school head/principal that the applicant is a present/potential TOP TEN student of the graduating class; certification of good moral character from the school head/principal and; one (1) recent 2”x 2” ID picture attached to the filled-out BFAR-FSP Application Form.

    Application forms are available at BFAR Regional Office No. 5, DA Compound, San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur and in all BFAR Provincial Fisheries Offices.
