Narrow your focus
Keeping in mind that the purpose of our blog is to earn money. Unlike before, blogging is just a mere hobby, where we write what we want — anything under the sun. This time, we want to focus our efforts on blog topics with high earning potentials.
Build Authority
In blogging there is no such jack of all trade. Authority here would mean two things. First, the more you read, write and share about your topic, you learn. Eventually you will grow and become expert on that field. Secondly, in the point of view of the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles, as you publish more content on that particular topic google will view your blog authoritative. As a result, you will be prioritized in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERP).

As I mentioned in the previous article about how to earn money blogging, bloggers or blogpreneurs earn money thru ads, sponsored posts or reviews, selling own digital products, and thru affiliate marketing (selling other company’s products). If you look at it, they have one thing in common. All is dependent to blog traffic. Blogpreneurs and the like are competing for traffic. I mean organic traffic (setting aside paid ads). Therefore, the more focus your blog should be and more content, the more authoritative you become. The more authoritative you become, the more organic traffic you get.

Now that we learned why we need to choose a profitable niche, the following would also give us insights on how to choose a profitable blog niche.
Begin from yourself
What are the things you like doing. What are your interests or the things you are passionate about. List them down. This is important because blogging (as we advocate) is our business. We will be doing it the rest of our life. In the long run our interest fades. But with passion, it will set a solid foundation that gives us motivation and confidence to keep doing.
Business Potential
From the list you gathered above, which one has better business potential. Which among that topic people wants to read about? Remember, you are not blogging for yourself. You are blogging for business. So you need to align what might be the demand out there against your interest. You might need to do a little bit of research for this. But basically, you have to identify your audience and the demand you might fill in.
Use google trend
The easiest way to validate your selection is to plug them down to google trend. Google trend will help you quickly identify whether or not people are actually searching for that particular topic or not. It also gives you an overview whether that topic is has an increasing or decreasing interest. This might not be the deepest analysis. But it’s a great place to start to identify your profitable blog topics.
